Peruvian people know that Perurail abuses about the prices for tourists. It's true, we pay 20 soles the round trip... a good price for most of peruvian. And it's true that the price for foreign people is too much expensive if we take into account the poor service on back packer (any service actually).
In fact, Perurail is a chilean society, who "won" the rights to exploit the train circuit (i think for 30 years), during Fujimori's dictatorship. Unfortunally, even if we don't agree with this abusive monopoly, we don't have the choice. They give the worst image about Peru and peruvian enterprises... it's a shame
This year i went to Machu Picchu, i paid 20 soles and my boyfriend (british) had to paid 80USD... completly unfaire..
