I don’t think it will make a difference at all, it’s too engrained in the culture.
As useful as it might be to be on time I can’t help appreciating the more laid-back approach here.

Being late is a custom enforced by the environment. Most Latin Americans I know in Japan are always on time… for Japan is so strict with punctuality!
