I agree with this, for anyone even for peruvians arriving Peru, not for a second go by yourself alone in the late night, always hang out with proper peruvians and don't talk around the taxi driver a different language, sometimes they have connections with outsiders, let the peruvian friends do the talk and the pay to the taxi wherever you go, especially if you speak a different language. Just a tip!!! there is robbery and assault by regular robbers who can assault you day or night, don't carry no watch, be as simple as you can and place your money never in the pockets, watch where you go and never alone!!!!

Hi Stuart,

Chiclayo is my hometown and yes, I'm agree about the disorder. The city is all messed up. Anyway, beyond the disorder, people from the northern Peru use to be very friendly, you gotta be carefull with the increasingly delinquent habits, though.

I just want to clear two tiny things:
-The highway is called Panamericana (not Pan Americana).
-The central market is called Mercado Modelo (not Mercado Modulo).

That's all buddy, you are doing a praiseworthy work promoting my country!

See you,

Miguel.
