You want to see the real Indiana Jones in the real Peru? then get a copy of the 1954 movie SECRET OF THE INCAS. Charlton Heston stomps around the Plaza de Armas and Plaza Regocijo in Cuzco in a fedora, chinos and a leather jacket. Other locations, such as Machu Picchu and Cuzco Cathedral, are shown in all their magnificent glory. Steven Spielberg took one look at this old movie and decided that Heston as Harry Steele was just the kind of look he wanted for Indiana Jones. I completely agree. I am born and raised in the US, and can honestly attest to the ignorance stated in the postings…and its a real shame. Oh, how I hate when people ask if someone speak s”Mexican” or talk about the “Mexicans” from [insert Spanish country]. I really feel that its a true insult to other cultures when people in the US refuse to learn about them and their languages, and think of the world as the first posting mentioned as “a vast, nebulous mystery-land”, which I admit to viewing the world the same way before I took a month long trip to Panama.

In fact, recently a Taco Bell commercial aired her in the US advertising their so-called “Mexican” fast food cuisine. However, the background music was sung by Marc Anthony, a Puerto Rican! Even though my whole family laughed at the commercial, it was a little disconcerting.
