Ironic that i should finnish reading a book written by Clive Cussler called the inca gold. To which it has a mention of a jade quipue, which was fictional captured with spainish bullion by Sir Francis Drake in september 26th 1580. As a former soldier and retired truck driver it is interesting to follow up on the digs, and finding out how much further people have gotten. I only wish that this bug i have for finding out about these different cultures that we do not hear about from the passed is now coming to life and the front of everybodies lives had caught hold of me earlier.if anybody can point me in the right direction as to finding out more, on understanding the workings of the quipue.

[...] The man at the forefront of their study is Gary Urton, professor of pre-Columbian studies in Harvard’s Department of Archaeology. Considered the world’s eminent authority on deciphering the quipu system, his investigations have kept him for a number of years in Andean Peru studying examples never before examined including many great finds from Chachapoyas.
