The security was extreme as I could watch by myself. I live near the corner of your first picture, in Miraflores. And about the Pisco, one of the best expresions of the gastronomy in Peru, I think that this drink really deserved to be showed to the world this way.

We drove past the big ministry building in San Borja where the World Leaders were congregating. We had no credentials other than a doctor's appointment card and we were let through by TWO police officers. IMO, APEC Security was very porous and it would have been easy pickings for any terrorist or deranged individual.

Alan Garcia trying to speak Mandarin Chinese is even more funnier than when he tried speaking English at the White House -- That guy is a big clown, but I don't think he realizes that.

To President Bush's Credit (and his Speech Writer's) he was the only one to actually outline what the APEC was really about, other than that it felt like a big ol' World Trade Fair with Peru on sale.
