Clever observations about the nature of cultural oppression in Peru, but hopefully this is changing more people are identifying themselves as indigenous people without shame, speaking their language openly, as the many organizations of indigenous peoples shown, the last example of the amazonian indigenous people has reverberated deeply in the Andes. Of course there is a long road ahead.
Another form where racism and discrimination are shown is the paternalistic view of indigenous people as "pobrecitos" or "inutiles", the people of the city think that they have "to teach", "to civilize" them in the ways of modern society, even you haven't escaped to that way of portrait them. Of course everybody could learn from other people, even the urbanites and gringos, but to impose certain ways of doing things without asking first how they want to solve their problems sometimes creates dependencies and lack of self reliance. Given the means people usually will find the way solve their problems in their own terms.

Another form where racism and discrimination are shown is the paternalistic view of indigenous people as “pobrecitos” or “inutiles”, the people of the city think that they have “to teach”, “to civilize” them in the ways of modern society, even you haven’t escaped to that way of portrait them. Of course everybody could learn from other people, even the urbanites and gringos, but to impose certain ways of doing things without asking first how they want to solve their problems sometimes creates dependencies and lack of self reliance. Given the means people usually will find the way solve their problems in their own terms.
