Pimentel is changing. I am american and my wife is Peruvian, we own the house next to the Hotel. The pristine side of Pimentel has no room to grow. We purchased on the developing side because there is room to go south to Santa Rosa. Pimentel has lots of possibilities but is hindered by the lack of decentralization coming from Lima. What bothers me is that they have an airport in Chiclayo of International caliber but the gov't has been draggin their feet to get direct flight to Pimentel. I hate the stay over in Lima until the next flight or bus to Pimentel. It is a vacation day wasted.

I am also a fanatic of Pimentel Beach and I believe it has a lot of potential, so many llook at the current conditions and do not see a diamond in the rough. I have my contacts in Pimentel who search out the news and activities and I place them on my blog. The lastest news is that a Major super market is in construction. Also the Pier has been closed for remodeling.

But what the Mayor and planners of Pimentel fail to realize, you cannot have tourism without transportation. Other countries in South America have direct flight into multiple cities, for instance Colombia has direct flight from Florida to, Barranquilla, Bogota, Cartegena etc......

Spirit Airlines has the right to fly into Chiclayo since 2007-08 , but no more news on this. Chiclayo is the main transportation hub in the north. Commerce from the north, ecuador and to the east the amazon and routes to Lima. So, Chiclayo has a bright future and Pimentel will follow in my opinion.

Pimentel could become the Atlantic City /Las Vegas of Peru, with proper investment, Casinos, clubs and shows.

I learned from my wife that many in Chiclayo do not value the beach as a year round diversion. She was shocked when I wanted to buy the property there, because to many there, Beach Property is worth less than in the city. I purchased the property for $13K in 2007 and now it is estimated to be worth $75K-$80K in the current condition. We had an architect draw up plans and for a 2500 sq ft home that can convert into a bar or restaurant. We plan to build soon as vacation property / income property.

15 years ago, I have traveled to Pimentel , I have the opportunity to meet the town mayor, he was really in love with his Pimentel town , and he had a lot beautiful dreams for Pimentel. One of his dream was to make Pimentel a beautiful and clean beach town, He built the Plaza de Armas,he rebuilt some of the street in Pimentel
I don't know what has happened to him, But I hope that
the new Pimentel leaders are following up his legacy
they will build the new beautiful Pimentel and its people
help to continue building a beautiful Pimentel-I would like to come back really soon.
