It apparently causes freak weather and unusual extremes as a result of higher mean temperatures.

“Lima – the mild rainless desert city…” your winters colder and longer, our winters colder and longer back here in the UK also, with record snowfalls and apparently being colder than the south pole for a sustained period of time. I thought we were supposed to be getting warmer?!
