I support the Odyssey group, they found it and went to the expense to recover it. Spain certainly doesn't deserve any of it, but I can see that Peru has some claim. I hope they can work something out. Having watched the "National Geographic's" accounts of other recovery work Odyssey has done, they seem completely within their rights.

If anything Spain owes Peru !Peru was a Empire when Spain invaded, they murdered the Inca King as they did in Mexico and then enslaved the people for 400 years. They left nouthing but misery and death. The indigenous people are still getting screwed by the Europeons! The Company that found the treasure should keep a percentage and the rest to Peru.

Interesting article... I had heard about the find a while back. I would like to hear the arguments of the Peruvian attorneys, and how they are defending the claim. I don't see why Peru would not be able to claim the gold and silver, or at least a good portion of it, especially given the history of Spain in Peru, and that the gold and silver was extracted through forced and slave labour.
Thanks, and keep us all posted!

What a fantastic article... thank you so much! Very interesting. I look forward to hearing the outcome. Personally I believe Peru should get the gold. Like haven't the Spanish already taken enough?

WOW!
What a story.
And SO, so much gold.
Be interesting to keep following this as it develops, as I think it will go on for much longer being worth so much.
