There was a place close to Plaza de armas de Surco, their chicharrones were way better than Lurin and mala together and the tradition in Peru was to have it for sunday breakfast and drinking cafe con leche in a beer jar. I hated coffee but nothing goes better with chicharrones as cafe au lait does.

I need to go to chincha to eat their tamales and pan con relleno chinchano, the blood sausage with rice and sugar and aji amarillo it's and odd pleasure.

Dude, those pics are mouth-watering! Speaking of being too young to care about what you eat, I have had the most unhealthy food since I've been in the UK. The result -- I gained 8 kg, which is probably good as I used to weigh 54kg before coming here. Turkish kebabs, fish and chips, Cheeseburgers at Dixy Chicken... so wrong but so tasty!

Stuart,

you have not had chicharron if you have not gone to Mala. You can go to the perennial Hermanos Barahona, but the last time I went to Los Huapaya, on the old Panamericana Sur. It was amazing! Make sure you get there early because they sell out pretty fast.

I know people like Lurin, but believe me, Mala is the best.

Enjoy it

You know it's my favorite, arteries be damned. ;) If we don't go to Lurin, there's a place over on Dante in Surquillo that we like (there's actually 4 or 5 places together, I can't remember the name of the one we like).

But our very favorite is a little hole in the wall on Angamos, just past Av. Principal in front of Plaza Vea. I think it's called Lurin 3, and they use a lot of seasoning and fry it up nice and greasy. It's got more flavor than most of the places I've tried.
