would you pay $90 for a CD? that is what paying for an original cd in Peru means. Of course if your daddy is a congress man or -u know- he is part of the wall street clan you can afford it,but not a regular peruvian.

It’s not quite true profits from piracy down here in the third world is merely for for shelter, food and clothing for the poor. It is well known around here drug dealers use their tainted money to support piracy mafias. I’m not sure. I think it’s some laundry strategy.

I’d love to have a reasonable and legal option here to buying “bambas” – but until Netflix is available, I’ll buy them when there’s not another option – and I don’t feel bad about it. I do still go to the cinema to see some new releases, and the majority of my movie watching is actually on TV (HBO etc) – on cable I pay for. 😉

Yes, if you write this, everyone can say “wow, peruvians break the law” or “how can they do this?”.
The real thing , however, is that here, the original albums or movie cost $23. But here our currency is based in “soles” not in “dollars”. So here $23 means too much money!!It menas like 90 “soles” It’s not the same in U.S or U.K.So we are not able ti buy the original ones.
I’m from Peru and I’m proud of it!! I love my country and that’s it.

i might add one more thought: i can’t help but find irony in the fact the such a movie as Pirates of the Caribbean loses so much profit because it is pirated. i guess that’s just another lesson telling us all that you reap what you sow!

Wow. The phrase “not so wrong” in the blog about Polvos Rosados police raid caught my attention. i must say i’ve never looked at the world as having things that are “not so wrong” (or maybe “not so right”?). Two wrongs don’t make a right and extortion and price gouging will never make robbery right. If you have a heart for Peru, and the world for that matter, do us a favor: Don’t encourage robbers, we already have more than enough! “Para colmo” you use a picture of a glorified fictional pirate with the blog. May people with such moral absence never have any major responsibility in the world. Unfortunately, yes, many of Peru’s leaders and the vast majority of its inhabitants are criminals, even if it’s not outright street robbery, which of course is abundant. Peru will be a third world country and will be the “dirty whore” which the first world kicks around until the people here learn to recognize right and wrong. Corruption, piracy, illegal driving habits and street robbery are not what I like to envision for the future of this country. i hope you don’t either.
