Camarones del valle de Lurín
As I continue Explorando Lima, where I demonstrate the immense diversity that Peru has to offer without even leaving the region of Lima, I come across a style of cooking spicy fresh-water shrimp.
Tiny towns along the Lurín valley count camarones, fresh water shrimp, as their base ingredient for typical local dishes. So, its not only on Peru’s massive coastline that you can eat tasty crustaceans. Local dishes include Chupe de Camarones and, as pictured above, Chicharrón de Camarones. Definitely the best food I’ve eaten this week.
